The photo shown is for the antique brass finish, not brass. The brass finish after a year is still bright and shiny. Installation with the center nut is a little more difficult than the two nut mounting plates. The bottom is open but can be covered by a thin piece of hard plastic cut to shape which keeps out bugs. Comes with a clear plastic gasket that separates the mounting plate from the wall to retard corrosion.

The two exterior lanterns we purchased totally lived up to their billing.

I would recommend these outdoor lights. They were easy to install and have mad the house look much better. We have been renovating a hundred yr old house - these are great looking and budget-friendly.
