We unsuccessfully searched numerous lighting stores in our area to find a torchiere light with a 300 watt halogen bulb to replace an old light. The one I ordered over the internet from Lighting Universe fit the bill perfectly. It arrived extremely well-packed, assembled easily, was well-priced and works extremely well. We are very happy with our purchase.

The only disadvantage is the new wattage checking device connected to the cord...prevents putting a really bright bulb into the lamp. Older versions didn't have this feature and accommodated bulbs with higher wattage.

I purchased this lamp in antique bronze which has the muted gold look I was after (I didn't want a shiny gold). Assembly was easy and the lamp worked immediately. The included bulb burned out rather fast (2 weeks perhaps) but the replacement bulb I put in is doing fine. Changing the bulb is a bit of a hassle because the heat guard can be difficult to reattach after replacing the bulb. Not a deal breaker in any way, just not the best designed feature.

We had a lamp like these but was not as sturdy. Love the weight and construction. Dimming is from very low light to bright. One lamp has had to be replaced after breif period, but we did move it around quite a bit.
