The Badger Basket Company got its start in 1911 when it was known as the Edgar Veneer & Mfg. Company. In 1912 it was sold to Eugene and Albert Erny and by 1918, the company’s name changed to Edgar Basket and Manufacturing Company. The company began manufacturing veneer-covered, woven baskets and was quite successful. The Ernys sold the company in 1939, and it was repurchased in 1944 by Elenor and William Erny and renamed the Standard Container Company. Since the company still manufactured baskets as its primary business, the Ernys also used the name Badger Basket Company as a trade name. Today, the Badger Basket Company is owned by William Erny’s daughter, Janet. Badger Basket manufactures a large line of baskets, hampers, juvenile furniture such as bassinets and changing tables, and a line of doll furniture items.
